Over the last four years I’ve been shaping a life that feels good to me - making, growing, thrifting, painting, sewing, cooking, writing, and creating little digital products to fund it all.

It’s not about doing everything.

It’s about doing more of what matters, and less of what doesn’t.

Welcome to my six‑acre world of fruit trees, rescue hens, greenhouse mornings and cosy craft nights.

I’m a digital product coach who spends her downtime foraging, knitting, sewing, baking, painting, carving wood, and coaxing things to grow in raised beds.

This Life I Made is where I share this journey, and invite you to share yours, in a way that feels sustainable and fun for everyone.

Once a month I’ll share a longer update - sometimes written, sometimes with photos, videos, or an audio note capturing what’s happening here at our old mill. You’ll get to see the garden, meet the rescue hens, join me as I try a recipe from my Nana's recipe book or follow along as I learn a new craft.

When something happens - a surprise thrift find, a basket of foraged berries, or Meggie the dog sneaking into the greenhouse - I’ll post a quick photo or video and let you know. These little glimpses of daily life make you feel like you’re right here with me.

Every so often, I’ll share a simple recipe from my Nana’s cookbooks, a craft idea, or a foraging tip. These prompts are optional and designed to spark your creativity without adding stress.

Inside our members‑only space on Simplero, you can share your own projects, chat about gardening and crafting, or just scroll through and feel inspired. There are no scheduled calls or Q&As — it’s a calm place to connect when you want to, without any pressure.

❤️ And we can work on them together - just know I’m not an expert in any of this (sweeps arms over all the crafty and gardening stuff) but I’m an enthusiastic learner, and I always have more ideas.

Why I Created This

Hi, I'm Claire, I'm 55 and I live with my family (lovely husband, gorgeous teenage daughter, little dog Meggie and a variety of rescue hens and sheep) in my old mill in beautiful North Yorkshire with 6 acres of land, a millstream and mill pond, trees, kingfishers, otters, a greenhouse, raised beds, an orchard and more.

In my main business I'm a digital product- and small business marketing coach, which I love. But a couple of years ago I burned out and it hit me really hard. As part of my healing, I decided I had to slow down and make more space for the things that light me up.

More making, more cooking and baking, more growing, more experimenting, more learning for the fun of it, chickens, greenhouse, thrifting, foraging, willow weaving, pottery, spoon carving, arty stuff and anything else that tickles my fancy.

And I wanted to share that journey with other women who felt the same. I don’t want to be 30 again. I lived, learned, and carried everyone else’s load. I think you feel the same. Now it's our time.

That’s what This Life I Made is here for. It's a bit whimsical, quite retro (I grew up in the 70s and 80s after all!) and fun.
